We have had two questions about options brokers in the UK:
I am looking for an options broker in the UK that will have a platform rather than just online trading, also that will have access to American stock market options and that will not charge commission per contract but a monthly fee, can you recommend anyone please?
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a stockbroker that offers a fixed fee for options trading in the UK. Interactive Investor does offer a fixed monthly fee for stock trading and there are a range of new digital stockbrokers that offer free stockbroking, However, these are mainly a gimmick and do not offer access to a particularly broad range of stocks. Interactive Brokers or Saxo Capital Markets would be good options here. But before you decide on a broker you should compare all options brokers and fees before going ahead.
It is possible to get a flat monthly fee for options trading but, this is generally only offered by prime brokers to large institutional clients who trade significant volume.
Looking at purchase of Call options with up to 3 month time limit. Do you have a simple download that I can wade through, or is it just pricing via phone or email?
Your best bet here is to go with an on-exchange options broker like Saxo Capital Markets. Most stockbrokers will have brokers that can buy options for you. However, not all will have an online options board for you to check prices and place orders. Saxo Capital Markets offers a range of options online and caters to retail and professional customers.
We have done a video walkthrough of the Saxo options trading platform which covers buying and selling options which you can watch to get an idea of what it looks like before you trade.
