Hargreaves Lansdown has launched its biggest cashback promotion to date, offering existing customers as much as £10,000 per account for transferring or contributing additional money to the investment platform.
The promotion runs from 1 October until 30 November 2026 and could potentially pay an individual customer up to £40,000 if they qualify for the maximum cashback across four eligible accounts.
Which HL accounts qualify for cashback?
The new cashback offer applies separately to four Hargreaves Lansdown accounts:
- Stocks and Shares ISA
- Fund and Share Account
- SIPP
- SIPP Income Drawdown
The amount paid depends on how much is transferred or contributed to each account during the qualifying period. Cashback starts at £100 for between £10,000 and £19,999.99, rising to £500 for £50,000, £1,000 for £100,000, £2,500 for £250,000 and £5,000 for £500,000.
Customers transferring or contributing at least £1 million to an eligible account can receive the maximum £10,000.
Does Hargreaves Lansdown offer cashback on ISAs?
Yes, but the new promotion applies specifically to the HL Stocks and Shares ISA, rather than the HL Cash ISA or HL Lifetime ISA.
HL also currently has a separate cashback promotion for new Active Savings customers, offering between £10 and £150 when they deposit at least £5,000 into savings products. This separate Active Savings offer does not apply to the HL Cash ISA.
Does Hargreaves Lansdown offer SIPP cashback?
Yes. Existing HL customers can earn between £100 and £10,000 cashback on contributions or transfers into an HL SIPP, with cashback starting at £100 for £10,000 and rising to £10,000 for £1 million or more. The offer also applies separately to HL SIPP Income Drawdown accounts. Customers must register and make their qualifying contribution or transfer between 1 October and 30 November 2026. Cashback will be paid into an HL Active Savings account within 30 days after 30 September 2027.
Is the cashback available on Active Savings?
Not directly under the new £10,000-per-account promotion. Active Savings isn’t one of the four qualifying accounts.
However, the cashback earned from the investment promotion will be paid into an HL Active Savings account, where customers can choose from savings products provided by more than 30 banks.
HL says it doesn’t charge customers for using Active Savings, although rates available through the platform can differ from those offered directly by its partner banks.
How do you claim the HL cashback?
Existing HL customers need to register for the offer using HL’s online registration form, by Secure Message or by telephone.
They then need to make qualifying contributions or transfers between 1 October and 30 November 2026.
What’s the catch?
The biggest catch is the wait.
Cashback won’t be paid immediately. HL says payments will be made into Active Savings within 30 days after 30 September 2027, meaning customers may have to wait almost a year after the promotion closes.
The offer is also restricted to existing HL clients, requires at least £10,000 per qualifying account to earn anything, and doesn’t include the Cash ISA, Lifetime ISA or Junior ISA.
Once the cashback has been paid, however, customers can leave it earning interest in Active Savings, withdraw it or move it to another HL account.
