CMC Markets has significantly expanded access to US markets by rolling out extended trading hours across more than 5,000 US-listed shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), giving traders and investors more opportunities to react to market-moving news outside of the traditional Wall Street session.
The CFD broker’s latest update allows clients to trade eligible US shares and ETFs on a 24/5 basis where overnight pricing is available. At the same time, CMC Invest customers can now access extended-hours trading, increasing the available US trading day from the standard 6.5-hour session to as much as 16 hours.
The move follows CMC Markets’ recent win at the 2026 Good Money Guide Awards, where it was voted “Best Spread Betting Broker” and is the latest step in CMC Markets’ strategy to build a more connected trading and investing platform. It follows a series of enhancements to its US equities offering, including the expansion of extended-hours trading for more than 80 US stocks and the earlier introduction of longer trading hours for the “Magnificent Seven” technology stocks, including Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia and Amazon.
By widening access to thousands more securities, CMC is responding to growing demand from investors who increasingly want to trade around company earnings, economic data releases and geopolitical events, many of which occur outside regular US market hours.
Vaughn Affonso, Co-head of Dealing at CMC Markets, said the changes reflect how global markets now operate.
“US markets are increasingly driven by events that take place outside the traditional trading session, whether that’s corporate earnings, economic data or geopolitical developments. Expanding our trading hours gives clients more opportunity to react when markets move, rather than waiting for the next session to open.”
Laurence Booth, Global Head of Markets at CMC Markets, added that the launch forms part of the company’s wider strategy to simplify market access across trading and investing products.
With US markets accounting for some of the world’s most actively traded companies, the extended-hours rollout gives CMC clients greater flexibility to manage positions and respond to breaking news whenever markets are moving, rather than being restricted to the traditional New York trading session.
The expansion also builds on CMC Markets’ recent push into wealth management and investing. Earlier this month, the broker introduced fractional investing, allowing customers to buy portions of US shares and ETFs from as little as £1 across Stocks & Shares ISAs, SIPPs and General Investment Accounts, as it continues to integrate its CMC Invest services more closely with its trading platform.
