Investegate has launched a £500,000 funding round as its new parent group promises to bring a host of new features to the company news feed provider.
UK stock-picking media company Stockomendation, which recently acquired Investegate, stated it is planning to bring AI analytic and content interpretation tools to the platform.
It is also investing to develop analytical tools, private markets coverage, as well as investor relations and education services for Investegate.
It stated that the funding round “is EIS tax relief qualifying with advanced approval from HMRC”.
The minimum investment size in the funding round is £5,000. Due to regulatory requirements, only high net worth individuals (HNWIs) and qualifying self-certified sophisticated investors can take part.
Stockomendation stated the round is at a 15% discount to the future share price of “a much larger Series ‘A’ funding round” slated to take place early next year.
Under relevant Financial Conduct Authority rules regarding investment in unlisted securities, a HNWI is someone who has an annual income of more than £100,000 or savings of more than £250,000.
A self-certified sophisticated investor must have worked in a significant professional capacity involved with private businesses. The full criteria can be seen here.
The funding round is “targeting an investment return of 7-10 times the initial investment within 3 years”.
It is worth emphasising, however, that early-stage investments are very high risk and it is quite common for investors to lose any money allocated to such companies.
Alongside the funding round, Stockomendation CEO Paul Roberts separately announced the group has signed a joint venture with “Investor Meets Company”, which provides retail investors access to company presentations.
Roberts said the tie-up will see the launch of a “new UK distribution network connecting investment content to one of the largest combined UK databases of retail investors, professional investors, press, and media”.
