The Society of Technical Analysts (STA) has kicked off 2026 with a January membership promotion, offering 20% off new associate memberships for anyone joining before 31 January 2026.
The discount reduces the cost to just over £5 a month, making it one of the most affordable entry points into professional technical analysis education and networking in the UK.
Founded in 1968, the STA is the oldest organisation in the world dedicated to technical analysis and now counts around 1,100 members across four continents. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in markets, from students and retail traders to institutional professionals — with no prerequisites required to join.
The January sale applies to new members using the promo code JANSALE and includes access to a wide range of benefits. These include courses and talks from UK and international market experts, a free subscription to the STA’s “Market Technician” journal, and access to the STA Library, which holds more than 1,150 technical analysis titles, alongside the Barbican eLibrary for UK members.
Members also benefit from discounted access to International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) events, external industry conferences, books, and specialist software, as well as regular monthly meetings in London and online, many of which can count towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Michael Hewson, award-winning technical analyst, long-standing STA member and current board member, highlighted the value of membership for anyone serious about markets.
“If you’re interested in financial markets can you afford not to get involved with the STA,” said Michael Hewson. “As a member for over 30 years, and now a board member, it’s a great way to broaden your understanding of financial markets, as well as generating new networking opportunities.”
Education remains a core pillar of the STA. The organisation has delivered technical analysis courses for more than 25 years, with teaching provided by leading practitioners, authors and fellows of the society. For those seeking formal recognition, the STA Diploma is internationally recognised by employers, with four to six online examinations held each year, moderated by video.
With interest in technical analysis continuing to grow — particularly among retail traders and investment professionals — the STA’s January promotion offers a timely and cost-effective way to gain structured education, recognised qualifications, and access to one of the world’s largest technical analyst networks
