Interactive Brokers (IBKR) has introduced artificial intelligence (AI)-generated news summaries for users of the trading and investment platform. The new feature, which comes at no extra cost, provides quicker summaries of news articles to investors.
It is available to eligible clients of the Interactive Brokers affiliates in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Japan.
In addition to AI-generated news summaries, Interactive Brokers has integrated AI into its Hot News feed tag articles as notable. This feature is available to all clients worldwide.
Interactive Brokers EVP of marketing and product development Steve Sanders said: “Artificial intelligence enables us to deliver valuable insights in seconds, helping our clients understand how breaking news may affect their portfolios.
“Our AI-generated news summaries feature gives investors a powerful way to pinpoint the information that matters most, making research fast, accessible, and impactful.”
The integration of AI into its news fees adds to the firm’s long-term strategy of pursuing innovation in its services.
In October, it launched Yes/No contracts allowing traders to bet according to their conviction on binary Yes/No outcomes, such as on the outcome of the last US presidential election.
It previously experimented with simulated sports betting. Prior to the closure of that exchange at the end of 2020, clients were able to bet on sporting events using fantasy dollars.
In a 2019 interview with the Good Money Guide, the firm’s founder and chairman, Thomas Peterffy, emphasised the importance of both competitive pricing and a strong product-line up for the company.
Our review of the platform finds it overall to be “unmatched in terms of market access, account types and execution options for retail traders”.
“It always has been and remains one of the cheapest trading and investing platforms globally,” Good Money Guide founder Richard Berry wrote.
Berry noted, however, that one feature the platform does not offer is financial spread betting, which offers tax free profits for UK traders.
