Capital.com has extended the CFD trading hours available on 61 US stocks, giving traders access to selected American stocks during both pre-market and after-hours sessions.
The new extended trading hours come into effect from 11 September 2026 and significantly increase the amount of time during which Capital.com clients can trade US stock CFDs in the UK based on major US-listed companies.
Under the new schedule, pre-market trading runs from 08:00 to 14:30 UTC, followed by the regular US session from 14:30 to 21:00 UTC. After-hours trading then continues until 00:00 UTC.
The change means UK and European CFD traders can react to US company news and market-moving events several hours before Wall Street officially opens, as well as continue trading following the closing bell.
This can be particularly useful during earnings season. US companies frequently publish results outside regular market hours, which can cause substantial price moves before the next official session begins.
Capital.com says the 61 share CFDs were selected partly on the basis of their price consistency during extended-hours trading. Liquidity can be considerably lower outside normal market hours, making some stocks less suitable for extended trading.
The broker has also warned that spreads may be wider during pre-market and after-hours sessions because of the reduced liquidity. Volatility can also increase sharply following earnings announcements and other unexpected company news.
Existing Capital.com clients do not need to make any changes to their positions or accounts. The extended hours are being applied automatically to the affected instruments.
Capital.com says it is not removing any share CFDs as part of the change and will continue assessing other US stocks that could potentially be added to extended-hours trading.
Extended hours trading sessions provide more opportunities to respond quickly to news. However, the combination of leverage, thinner liquidity, wider spreads and potentially greater volatility means trading outside normal market hours can also carry additional risk.
