CMC Markets has announced the launch of CMC Funded, a new simulated proprietary trading evaluation programme designed to identify promising trading talent and potentially connect successful participants with career opportunities.
The programme has been developed through a strategic partnership and draws on CMC Markets’ trading technology, market expertise and experience working with active traders.
CMC Funded operates separately from CMC Markets and is not a regulated product or service provided by the FTSE 250-listed broker. Participants do not trade with live brokerage accounts or client money, with all trading taking place in a simulated environment.
Traders joining the programme are given a $100,000 simulated trading evaluation account with predetermined performance targets and risk parameters. Those who successfully complete the evaluation receive a Verified Trader badge.
AI-powered recruitment platform Verichain has been appointed as CMC Funded’s first referral partner. Successful candidates will be offered an interview opportunity through Verichain, which connects candidates with businesses operating across finance, trading and technology.
Participants will be able to trade a range of global markets through their simulated account, including prediction-market events.
CMC Markets founder and CEO Lord Peter Cruddas said growing demand for proprietary trading programmes had encouraged the company to explore the sector.
“Demand for proprietary trading programmes is growing rapidly, and we have listened carefully to what traders want: greater trust, clearer rules, stronger technology and a more professional experience,” Cruddas said.
Benjamin Charbonneau, Managing Director and Head of CMC Funded, said funded trading programmes were increasingly becoming a progression route for traders who have gained experience through demo accounts.
“For many traders, funded programmes are becoming the natural next step after demo trading,” he said. “It’s a structured way to test their discipline, develop their skills and prove they can perform consistently.”
Charbonneau stressed that CMC Funded accounts remain simulated and that the programme is intended to identify traders capable of demonstrating consistent performance rather than offering an easy route to making money.
The launch sees CMC Markets become the latest established trading brand to explore the rapidly expanding prop trading and trader evaluation market.
