Bestinvest is one of the most established investment platforms in the UK. Bestinvest was founded in 1986 and is now owned by Evelyn Partners (a financial services firm with £52 billion under management). Bestinvest primary offering is low-cost premade portfolios costing as little as 0.2% a year, fund investing and discount UK share dealing.
Is Bestinvest good for investing?
Yes, Bestinvest has combined low-cost online investing and share dealing with personalised expert advice to help clients choose the right investments for their portfolio. A good choice for large long-term investors who want a bit of added value from their broker.
Pricing: Bestinvest scores top marks for their low-cost ready-made portfolios and cheap dealing fees
Market Access: There is a huge range of UK and US shares, bonds and funds to invest in, although they are let down by not offering emerging markets
App & Platform: This could be a lot better, and the app is only a recent addition.
Customer Service: Bestinvest gives excellent personal service, although advice is charged on a flat fee basis
Research & Analysis: There is a really good coverage of funds with their 'Spot the Dog' report.

I have an ISA account with Bestinvest. Since the service was completely overhauled a couple of years ago, it is much improved. In particular, the ability to book a virtual meeting and discuss things with a Coach (at no cost!!!), is incredibly helpful and sets it apart from rivals.

I've had an account for a couple of years with Bestinvest and particularly like the free financial coaching - there whenever I need it - and the RMPs that are tailored to my risk profile and work well for someone who prefers a hands-off approach to investing.
Great service if you are going to use it to it's full extent
Cost-effective way to get access to investment coaches to discuss the right investment strategy is right for you. The Ready-made Portfolios, particularly the Smart funds, are perfect if you know how much risk/growth you want to target but want to leave the stock-picking to the professionals.

Been with Bestinvest for many years but......
Had my first-ever hiccup with Best in 2024. I was advised to send original documents for shares held in paper form to the Liverpool office for conversion into Crest so that they could be entered into my Investment account. The value was 60K+ and the Postoffice confirmed delivery. I Included a cover letter asking for confirmation e-mail of agreement as to content of the letter (Number of certificates, etc) but received nothing. Rang the 02071899999 number after a while (which seemed to be answered in Liverpool) and was told it had been received and was in process. I asked again for confirmation of what was received, but the lady could not tell me so I asked again for an e-mail confirmation pointing out that I had requested that with the certificates. Nothing was forthcoming so I wrote a complaint which was answered in terms of the length of time such moves took and claiming my envelope was received 4 Nov 24 when the Postoffice showed it was signed for by Eyelyn on 24 Oct 24! I still like Bestinvest
