CMC Markets has extended its trading hours on more than 80 US stocks.

Users of the platform will now be able to trade these stocks from 9am until 9pm UK time, from 10 February 2025.

This means they can trade in the pre-market session before the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq open at 2:30pm UK time.

The platform’s order types and execution continue as normal during extended-hours trading, as will account liquidations.

Trading and position limits will be lower compared to those in the main trading session.

The move comes shortly after the broker extended trading hours for the β€œMagnificient 7” leading large cap US tech stocks.

Since 27 January customers have been able to trade Google Parent Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Facebook owner Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla from 9am to 9pm UK time.

CMC Markets has offered forex trading services since 1989 and now has over 300,000 active clients trading online. It has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2016.Β

The latest Good Money Guide review of the platform highlighted its offering for high-frequency and active traders, supported by an emphasis on technology.

Other brokers have also recently been extending trading hours of US securities for customers in the UK.

In October,Β  Charles Schwab expanded its UK 24-hour trading to include US stocks listed on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 indices.

This is being piloted with a small group of clients, with the firm planning to offer full client access to 24-hour US stock trading this year.

The US stockbroker also provided UK customers of its thinkorswim platform access to hundreds of additional exchange-traded funds (ETFs), 24-hours a day, five days a week.

The move followed Schwab’s acquisition of Ameritrade, which in 2018 became the first US retail broker dealer to give investors 24/5 trading access through the thinkorswim platform.

Pepperstone also introduced 24-hour CFD trading on US equities in June last year, with the new service available to clients via the MT5, cTrader, and TradingView platforms.
