Investment Trends, the leading brokerage research house has published its list of the best spread betting brokers, based on in-depth analysis.
Investment Trends’ 2016 UK Leverage Trading Report is based on a survey of more than 12,000 UK investors and has revealed that IG and CMC Markets lead the way with investors.
According to the report, IG – one of the largest Forex brokers – remains the undisputed leader in three key trading categories – financial spread betting, forex and CFDs. The company has been the leader in the UK leverage trading market since the Investment Trends survey began in 2009.
The research house found that all areas are becoming more competitive and some of the top MT4 brokers now feature on the list. Plus 500 were strong runners-up in the best CFD broker category, FXCM were second place in forex while CMC Markets saw substantial growth in client numbers for spread betting.
The research found that the forex and CFD market in the UK grew by about 14 per cent this year, with 124,000 UK traders placing at least one spread bet, one FX trade or one CFD trade in the 12 months to July 2016.
Investment Trends also found that UK online traders are generally happy with the service they receive. Client satisfaction remains high, with 89 per cent of online traders rating their main provider as either ‘good’ or ‘very good’.
Dr. Irene Guiamatsia, Research Director at Investment Trends, said:
“Overall client satisfaction levels were steady, while satisfaction in nearly all individual service areas lifted, sometimes substantially. This is symptomatic of an arms race, where providers must continually improve and innovate to remain competitive.”
Investment Trends also found that companies are having to innovate in order to keep themselves ahead of the competition. Notable innovation noted by survey respondents included CMC Markets’ introduction of binary options, IG’s charting improvements, and ETX Capital’s website revamp.
