Good Bank
The app is very easy to use and has some great features including freezing a card temporarily. Security is paramount and their systems work well.
Just switched to Starling as main account
After 10 years as a happy Starling customer I decided to switch all my income to them from First Direct. The process was completely painless. And now I have the benefit of Starling’s features for (almost) all my money – the instant notifications, the spaces for squirrelling away pots of savings, the great value foreign exchange, easy payments and all the rest. And the best thing for me is knowing that if I do need to speak to someone I have choices – in app messaging is fast and efficient but on the one occasion I’ve needed to speak to somebody “live” that worked brilliantly too.
BEST EVER
Love this bank Purchases over certain amount you get a message to confirm your purchase
this alone makes me feel safe where my savings are
Thank yyou starling would highly recommend.
Travel abroad
It’s piece of mind to know that if your card was lost that a potential finder would be limited to only the funds you have on this card.
Great service
Great service, always a chat box available, a voice if you need it, good rates of interest
Love my bank
I’ve been around a few banks and never ever said, I love my bank, but I do say this about Starling. Easy to use, any questions promptly dealt with, nothing negative to say.
Great for home and abroad
Easy to set up and very user friendly. Highly recommended
Starling Bank
Good Money Guide
My view
With the high street banks closing an internet bank was really the best option for me.
I am in my late 60s and I personally have found it easy to use. On the rare occasion I receive a cheque, I simply take a photo; so no more queuing. I have my little saving pots; for those expenses such as Christmas, birthdays, holidays, and I can have as many as I need – no more opening an account for each one.
When I am on holiday, no more getting out currency, I just take it out as I need it, no commission or conversion charges.
Should I have a problem, or need some advice, they are there 24/7.
Starling its a win, win for me.

More Than Happy
have been with Starling a few years now. Even the small amount of communication I’ve needed has been smooth & satisfactory. Online chats make for a simpler system, plus you’re not hanging on the phone for ages! The app is easy to use & read. Transferring money whether between accounts or an outside source, is easy too. Right now, I can’t fault them! Everything a bank should be!
Best Bank
Best bank I’ve used for years. Easy to use and follow and interest paid on my spending. No charges for overseas spending. Brilliant
Simply Excellent
Starling is an easy to use, reliable, fast efficient and customer friendly means if banking. Your details and money are secure whilst all your transactions are presented in an easy to understand and informative manner.
Great bank
I like this bank. They notified me immediately when someone was trying to use my account and blocked it. I only tend to use it for paying my bus fare to work and top it up from my main bank but I am seriously thinking of changing. You can set up a holiday pot and put money into it regularly without much hassle
Satisfied
I find Sterling bank totally meets my needs
Simply Excellent
Puts the High Street Banks to shame. Excellent app, excellent customer service.

Best bank!
Starling provides an excellent service. Good communication. Interest on your current account. We travel regularly to Australia and use our starling card each time, at every venue without a single hitch! Very impressive! Also, starling inform us of how much we have spent in sterling. A starling card is a must for every traveller and gives huge peace of mind. I would recommend starling banking without hesitation!
Easy and straightforward to use
Very easy and straightforward to use and keep a track of all spending.
Was ideal for recent holiday abroad, good exchange rate, no fees and so much easier than using cash.
Starling Bank: A UK digital bank with modern features and competitive savings

Provider: Starling Bank
Verdict: Starling Bank is a UK digital challenger bank offering personal, joint, euro and business accounts. It has no monthly fees, FSCS protection on deposits up to £85,000, and is regulated by the FCA and PRA. Starling is based in London, with its registered Starling Bank address at 2 Finsbury Avenue, London, EC2M 2PP.
Is Starling Bank good?
For most users, yes. Starling Bank offers fee-free banking, competitive savings rates, and an excellent app. Is Starling going bust? No — despite regulatory fines, it remains stable, FSCS-protected, and growing. It’s one of the strongest digital options for personal and business accounts, as long as you are comfortable with app-based banking and don’t need branches.
Pricing & Interest Rates
Starling Bank has built its reputation on transparent pricing and competitive interest rates. Its Easy Saver account currently pays interest on 12-month terms. It has removed interest on standard current accounts from February 2025, reducing returns for customers holding large balances.
There are no monthly account fees, and Starling does not charge extra for spending abroad, using Mastercard’s exchange rate for foreign card payments and ATM withdrawals. These features make it attractive for both domestic and overseas use.
Products & Features
Starling Bank offers a full range of current and savings accounts, plus business and euro accounts. It has budgeting tools like Spaces for ring-fencing money, Bills Manager for setting aside funds, instant transaction notifications, and strong card controls.
Business customers can connect accounting software through the Starling Marketplace and access free UK payments and integrated spending insights.
There is no Starling Bank credit card yet, but its core products are broad and well integrated, giving users strong day-to-day banking functionality.
App & Website
The Starling Bank app is one of the strongest in UK banking. It has a clean design, reliable performance, and highly rated features like cheque imaging, instant alerts, spending categories, savings goals, and card freezing.
The app and online banking platform are regularly updated, and customer reviews praise their stability and ease of use. Starling Bank login is secure and fast, and you can open or close accounts entirely through the app without needing branches.
But website bank account access is limited.
Safety & Reliability
Starling is a licensed UK bank with full FSCS protection and robust security tools like biometric login, fraud monitoring and instant card controls. It has faced scrutiny, with the FCA fining it £29 million in 2024 for “shockingly lax” anti-money laundering controls, which has raised questions about Starling Bank financial struggles and governance, though it remains solvent and operational.
The bank has since pledged to improve compliance systems. While these failings dented its reputation, Starling Bank is safe overall, and is Starling a UK bank? Yes, it is fully regulated and headquartered in London.
Customer Experience
Customer reviews are generally positive, praising fast account opening, helpful in-app chat support, and the absence of fees. Users say it is intuitive to use day-to-day and Starling Bank abroad works well, with no extra charges for foreign spending or ATM withdrawals.
Cash deposits are possible at Post Office branches using a Starling Bank sort code and account number, which answers common questions like how to pay cash into Starling Bank or how to put cash into Starling Bank.
There are occasional complaints about delays resolving complex fraud or disputes, but these are relatively rare.

Anne Boden, Starling Bank CEO on how they offer some of the best international money transfer exchange rates in the market
About four years ago I set up a currency transfer service (it was called Berry FX if you must know). Because more years ago than that I used to be a prime broker for client-facing foreign exchange services. We used to convert some (relatively speaking) large amounts and deliver around £20m Euros, USD, Danish Krone etc.
