IG, one of the UK’s largest investment platforms, has launched a new promotion offering free shares worth between £40 and £200 to new customers who open and fund an account before the end of November. The offer, which runs until 30 November 2025, is designed to attract first-time investors to the FTSE 250-listed broker’s ISA, general investment account (GIA) and SIPP products.
To qualify, customers must be new to IG, UK-resident, aged 18 or over, and make their first investment of at least £50 between 1 and 30 November. The investment must remain in place until 31 December 2025. IG says the free shares will be added to the customer’s GIA by the end of December.
The value of the shares awarded is randomly determined. According to IG, 60% of eligible customers will receive shares worth between £40 and £50, 30% will receive between £50 and £100, 6% will receive between £100 and £150 and 4% will receive the top tier of between £150 and £200.
The promotion arrives at a competitive time for UK investment platforms, many of which are using incentives to attract first-time investors and ISA switchers ahead of the new tax year. IG has positioned the offer alongside several selling points, including commission-free trading on more than 11,000 shares and ETFs when investing through a UK-based GIA, ISA or SIPP, and 4% variable interest on uninvested cash balances up to £100,000.
IG highlights its status as a long-established broker, with 34 years of experience, more than 1.3 million accounts worldwide and a listing on the London Stock Exchange. The company recently won several industry awards, including Best Share Dealing Platform at the 2024 YourMoney.co.uk Investment Awards and Best for Low-Cost ISA at the Boring Money Best Buy Awards.
New customers can open an ISA, GIA or SIPP through the IG Invest mobile app or its web-based share dealing platform. More advanced tools, including Level 2 Dealer and TradingView integration, are available for experienced traders. IG also promotes features such as flexible ISA withdrawals, same-day withdrawals, and 24/7 support via the app, WhatsApp and live chat.
The firm notes that while stock and ETF trading is commission-free, other fees may apply. IG also warns that investing carries risk and that customers may get back less than they put in.
Full terms and conditions are available on the IG website. The free shares offer closes at 23:59 on 30 November 2025.
