Plus500 US Reduces Minimum Deposit to $10

Plus500 minimum deposit

Plus500 has made it easier to open a single stock futures trading account by reducing the minimum deposit required for US customers to just $10, significantly lowering the amount traders need to fund an account and start using its platform.

The $10 minimum is down from $75 previously, a reduction of almost 87%. Plus500 says the change is already helping to improve conversion rates among new customers, as the trading platform looks to make its US offering more accessible.

While a lower minimum deposit does not change the risks involved in trading, it does allow new customers to fund an account with considerably less capital than before.

The change comes as Plus500 expands the range of markets available to its US customers, including the recent launch of Single Stock Futures (SSFs).

Single Stock Futures give traders leveraged exposure to the price of an individual company without requiring them to own its shares. Plus500’s new offering includes cash-settled futures on major US stocks such as Apple, Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft and Meta.

The launch marks the return of Single Stock Futures to US markets for the first time since 2020 and gives Plus500 customers another way to take directional positions on individual stocks, alongside the company’s broader futures offering.

Plus500 has also been expanding into Prediction Markets in the US, where event contracts allow customers to take positions based on the outcome of specific events.

The combination of a much lower minimum deposit and a growing range of products appears designed to broaden the appeal of Plus500’s US platform, particularly among retail traders who may not want to commit significant capital when opening an account for the first time.

The move is also notable given the importance of the US to Plus500’s wider growth strategy. The London-listed fintech has been steadily building its presence in the country, where it operates a regulated futures business and has invested heavily in developing its proprietary trading technology and product range.

Reducing the minimum deposit from $75 to $10 means the initial funding requirement is now $65 lower, potentially opening Plus500 to a much larger pool of smaller and first-time futures traders.

However, customers should remember that the ability to open and fund an account with $10 does not necessarily mean that amount will be sufficient to trade every product available on the platform, with futures positions subject to their own margin requirements.
