Interactive Brokers has expanded its artificial intelligence offering by integrating ChatGPT and Grok into its growing suite of AI-powered trading tools, giving clients new ways to research markets, analyse portfolios and generate trade instructions using natural language.
The US-based online stock broker said the latest integrations build on its existing partnership with Claude and form part of its wider push into what it describes as “agentic trading” – allowing investors to interact with markets through conversational AI interfaces.
The update also broadens the range of products available through the AI integrations. Clients can now generate trading instructions for options, futures and futures options, in addition to equities and ETFs for US investors.
Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik said investor demand for AI-powered investing tools continues to grow.
“We continue to see growing interest from investors in using artificial intelligence as a more natural way to interact with financial markets,” he said. “Adding ChatGPT and Grok, together with support for options and futures, expands the ways clients can securely connect AI tools to Interactive Brokers for research, analysis and execution.”
Interactive Brokers (which was voted best trading app in the 2026 Good Money Guide Awards) said clients can connect their existing accounts to ChatGPT, Grok or Claude without sharing passwords or API keys with the AI providers. Once connected, investors can ask questions about their portfolios, analyse trading opportunities and create order instructions using plain English.
However, all orders must still be reviewed and approved by the client before being submitted to the market through a dedicated AI Instructions tab.
Interactive Brokers highlighted several use cases, including generating options hedging strategies for existing stock portfolios, identifying overbought and oversold positions using technical indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI), and benchmarking portfolio performance against major market indices.
The new integrations complement a growing range of AI tools already available on Interactive Brokers’ platform. These include AI-powered stock screeners, thematic investment discovery tools, portfolio analysis features and automated news summaries tailored to a client’s holdings and watchlists.
Our View
I think AI is going to be great for traders and investors as brokers increasingly incorporate generative AI into trading platforms. It means you can backtest strategies and process company releases and economic announcements faster. Obviously, AI can’t make trades for you yet, as that final investment decisions remain the responsibility of the client. But, the more brokers that add AI tools to help investors be more informed, the more chance investors have of beating the market.
