Capital.com Appoints Mamoon Sbeih as Chief Strategy Officer to Support Global Expansion

Capital.com has appointed Middle East communications and public affairs veteran Mamoon Sbeih as Chief Strategy Officer as the trading platform continues its push into new international markets.

Sbeih will be responsible for the UAE CFD broker’s corporate strategy, government relations and corporate communications, with his appointment reflecting the increasingly important role regulatory and government relationships play in the broker’s international expansion.

He brings 27 years of experience in strategic communications, with a particular focus on the Middle East and North Africa.

Sbeih spent almost a decade at the World Bank as an External Affairs and Aid Coordination Officer before joining communications consultancy BCW in the UAE in 2003. He moved to APCO in 2006, where he went on to hold several senior positions.

These included Managing Director for the MENA region and Regional President from 2017. Most recently, he served as APCO’s Chief International Business Development Officer and MENA Chairman.

Viktor Prokopenya, Founder of Capital.com, said Sbeih’s experience in government relations and strategic communications would be particularly valuable as the broker enters additional jurisdictions.

“Mamoon spent two decades building APCO’s business across the Middle East,” Prokopenya said. “That combination of public affairs and strategic communication experience is exactly what we need as Capital.com expands into new markets and jurisdictions.”

Sbeih said Capital.com was building a platform focused on helping traders make “better decisions, not faster ones”, adding that he would bring the same strategic discipline used throughout his career to communicating the company’s growth story.

The appointment comes as Capital.com continues to broaden its international regulatory footprint. Founded in 2016, the trading platform now operates from offices including London, Dubai, Warsaw, Milan, Nassau, Sofia, Limassol and Melbourne.

Its regulated operations now extend across markets including the UK, Cyprus, Australia, the UAE, Kenya, South Africa, Bermuda and the Bahamas.

Following the expansion of its senior leadership team, including becoming regulated in South Africa, suggests Capital.com is putting greater emphasis on managing the regulatory, political and communications challenges that come with entering new markets, rather than focusing solely on product and technology development.
