Interactive Brokers has expanded its artificial intelligence offering by allowing clients to connect their brokerage accounts to virtually any AI application built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), broadening access beyond ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.
The latest update means clients can now securely connect their Interactive Brokers accounts to a growing ecosystem of MCP-compatible AI tools, including Claude Code, Cursor, Perplexity and Windsurf. The move builds on the broker’s recent AI initiatives, following the launch of integrations with ChatGPT and Grok, and more recently Claude, as Interactive Brokers continues to position itself at the forefront of AI-powered investing.
Model Context Protocol has emerged as an open standard that enables AI applications to securely connect with external services. By adopting MCP, Interactive Brokers is allowing clients to use their preferred AI assistants to analyse portfolios, research investments, monitor risk and draft trade instructions using natural language.
“The AI Integration lets clients connect their accounts to the AI tools they already use, while maintaining control over what information can be accessed,” the company said.
Users can ask detailed portfolio questions such as how rising interest rates or a weakening US dollar could affect their holdings, identify their most volatile investments or assess how a market downturn might impact their portfolio. The AI analyses the account and prepares draft trading instructions, although clients must still review and manually submit any orders through an Interactive Brokers platform.
“Interactive Brokers has long offered open APIs that let clients connect their accounts to the tools and systems they choose,” said Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers. “Supporting AI tools built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a natural extension of that philosophy.”
The announcement marks another step in IBKRs’ continued investment in AI technology after Interactive Brokers was named Best Trading App 2026 by Good Money Guide, and it’s rapid expansion of AI capabilities. Earlier this year, the broker introduced certified integrations for ChatGPT and Grok before adding Claude support shortly afterwards. It has also rolled out AI-powered screeners, portfolio analysis, investment themes, AI news summaries and its Ask IBKR assistant across its trading platforms.
