ETX Capital Versus Spreadex - which broker is right for you?

Considering a spread betting account with either Spreadex or ETX Capital but don't know who you should go for?  Or even both...

When were they founded?

ETX is quite a bit more established than Spreadex.  ETX was wounded way back in 1965 as an institutional broker and is still a member of the LSE and trades under Monecor Ltd.  Spreadex is still one of the original spread betting brokers but founded much more recently in 1999 by Jonathan Hufford in Bedfordshire.  unlike ETX who are based in the City of London Spreadex are in St Albans in Hertfordshire.

How tight are their spreads?

ETX offers much tighter spreads on the major markets compared to Spreadex.  You can get FX spreads of 0.9.  Spreadex, don't really compete on price for smaller clients.

Trading platform choice

Spreadex focus on voice brokerage and personal service, so if this is how you like to trade they are the broker for you.

As far as the trading platforms offered there is no contest between ETX versus Spreadex.  The ETX platform is slick, simple and fast with a PRo and basic version depending on how much information you need.

How broad is the market range?

Spreadex specialise in obscure markets, or rather, they have dealers than can sniff you a price in something.  Spreadex have good coverage of the main FX pairs, indices and shares, plus have excellent access to small cap shares and are one of the best spread betting brokers for the AIM market.

ETX offer around 5,000 markets online which covers pretty much anything you could need.
