CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

IG Versus Spreadex – Two very different brokers

There is a big difference between these two spread betting brokers.  IG Versus Spreadex is a simple comparison because they cater for very different clients.

When were they founded?

IG was founded in 1974 by Stuart Wheeler as a gold bookie.  Spreadex a little more recently in 1999.  Both brokers are well established with large loyal client basis

How tight are their spreads?

Neither IG nor Spreadex could be accused of being competitive on price.  Bother brokers can be beaten on spreads by discount brokers like ETX or Core Spreads.

Trading platform choice

IG has by far the better online trading platform.  In fact it's pretty much the best in the industry.

Spreadex's online platform is fine and functional.  But where they really shine is personal service for clients that like to deal over the phone.  As they are a smaller broker they offer a more personal service.

How broad is the market range?

Again, IG wins hands down.  They offer over 10,000 markets compared to Spreadex.  However, with Spreadex you can also bet on sports so if you fancy betting on the Footie and FTSE Spreadex offer a fuller service.
