ETX Versus IG - the key features compared.

Can't decide between trading through ETX Capital or IG?  Have a quick read through the key features when it comes to ETX versus IG.

When were they founded?

ETX and IG are both well established brokers.  IG was set up in 1974 by Stuart Wheeler as way for punters to bet on the price of gold.  However, ETX is actually a little older.  The firm was founded in 1965 as Monecor Ltd as an institutional broker.  To attract more private clients the firm change it's name to ETX (Electronic, Telephone, Execution) in around 2002.

How tight are their spreads?

ETX generally have slightly tighter spreads compared to IG. ETX does tend to compete a bit more on price though.  Of the two, ETX is the smaller so offers discounted spreads on some markets to win new business.

Who has the better trading platforms?

Both ETX and IG offer access to MT4 as well as their own platforms.  However, there is no contest here between IG versus ETX here. IG has the better in house platform and invests heavily in it's continual development.

IG offers a plethora of indicators, traders tools, sentiment gauges, analysis and news tools.  ETX versus IG is a little more basic.  No so much fuss, just a clear simple trading and execution interface.

How broad is the market range?

ETX offers access to about 5,000 markets, which pretty much covers anything you may want to trade. However, IG has by far the largest market range of all the spread betting brokers.  IG let you trade pretty much anything that can be traded on the underlying market.  That being said, both brokers can add markets on request if tradeable.
