ETX Versus IG - the key features compared.

Can't decide between trading through ETX Capital or IG?  Have a quick read through the key features when it comes to ETX versus IG.

ETX Capital Versus IG - who is best???

As IG moves into the traditional stockbroking space traders are worried that they may lose their edge!

IG has always been the dominant spread betting firm.  They have historically provided the most innovative tools and bean a lean, mean, spread betting machine.  But will their traditional stockbroking offering take away some of the magic?

ETX Capital is getting better every day, they are consistently ranked number two now in the spread betting industry and must work hard to reach the top spot of best spread betting broker.  They will only do this by offering a better product than their competitors.  This will mean, tighter spreads, better margins and a greater product range.

The danger is that IG, now becoming an administrative hub for trading rather than an innovative pioneer may let their technology and platform dwindle whilst they on board physical stock for customers to use as margin against their spread betting fun money.

It is inevitable that ETX will be better than IG if their focus remains on spread betting rather than IG's current focus of getting collateral on account.

When were ETX & IG founded?

ETX and IG are both well-established brokers.  IG was set up in 1974 by Stuart Wheeler as way for punters to bet on the price of gold.  However, ETX is actually a little older.  The firm was founded in 1965 as Monecor Ltd as an institutional broker.  To attract more private clients the firm change it's name to ETX (Electronic, Telephone, Execution) in around 2002.

How tight are ETX Versus IG spreads?

ETX generally have slightly tighter spreads compared to IG. ETX does tend to compete a bit more on price though.  Of the two, ETX is the smaller so offers discounted spreads on some markets to win new business.

Who has the better trading platforms, IG or ETX?

Both ETX and IG offer access to MT4 as well as their own platforms.  However, there is no contest here between IG versus ETX here. IG has the better in house platform and invests heavily in it's continual development.

IG offers a plethora of indicators, traders tools, sentiment gauges, analysis and news tools.  ETX versus IG is a little more basic.  No so much fuss, just a clear simple trading and execution interface.

Does IG or ETX have a broader market range?

ETX offers access to about 5,000 markets, which pretty much covers anything you may want to trade. However, IG has by far the largest market range of all the spread betting brokers.  IG let you trade pretty much anything that can be traded on the underlying market.  That being said, both brokers can add markets on request if tradeable.
