In the latest list of the largest CFD brokers, forex and spread betting companies, CMC Markets and IG remain in the top four firms in the UK.
The market capitalisation of CMC Markets is now almost $700 million, just behind GMO Click – a group with subsidiaries in Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong.
CMC Markets was established in 1989 and is now one of the best CFD brokers around. The company has offices in 14 different countries and they focus on markets in UK, Australia, Singapore and Germany.
The top CFD broker offers trading in more than 10,000 financial instruments including forex, shares, indices, commodities and treasuries via its own trading platform, Next Generation.
IG remains largest CFD broker in country
Just ahead of CMC Markets and GMO Click are Plus 500 who have a market capitalisation of $0.9 billion.
The leading position is held by the IG Group. IG have a market capitalisation of $3.75 billion, although this has fallen since August against the backdrop of the fall in the value of the pound and concerns over Brexit.
Established in 1974, IG are the number largest Forex broker and spread betting company worldwide, with sales offices located in 15 countries. IG give retail investors leveraged access to over 10,000 financial markets through their award-winning dealing platform and mobile apps.
The IG Group is now one of the UK’s top 200 firms and is listed on the London Stock Exchange and the FTSE 250.
The top four brokers by market capitalisation are:
- IG Group – $3.75 billion
- Plus 500 – $0.92 billion
- GMO Click – $0.84 billion
- CMC Markets – $0.71 billion
